cha ching yes through my childhood demons was a main theme at the meetings and in my dreams or should I say nightmares. My thinking is this s part of the spiritual abuse we all received from the Borg. Glad you don't have those dreams anymore. Good post days of furture passed. Take care all.. Still Totally ADD

The secret fears - did you have any?
by days of future passed ini think many jw's have secret fears in common, but don't often voice them.
it's too bad because then they might wonder why?.
for instance, one day at work while i was talking to one of the witness ladies, (on her belief of some bible proof of the last days) she suddenly lowered her voice.

Meeting Days Felt Different?
by pale.emperor ini dont know if it was the same for you, but for me when i was a jw meeting days seemed to have a black cloud hanging over them.
on thursdays i knew i would be going to the meeting that evening.
that i would be getting into my meeting clothes at 6:30pm, leaving the house at 6:55pm and be sat in the kingdom hall from 7:15pm-9pm, then milling around for about half an hour before finally getting home for 10pm.

About 4 years ago we was invited to a award event for a friend of ours. It was on a Thursday night and we had to dress up. It was the first time I put on a suit in three years. When I was tying my tie I started to feel sick by the time I had my jacket on was on I was in a full aniexity attack. It took about half hour to figure out what was going on. Soon after that I was feeling better. So you see how all those meeting days affected me. I hated them. Still Totally ADD

Of course I did and by what I have just read I feel so has everyone who are still in or have left the Borg have secret fears. How could you not! With their propaganda the wt. does a very good job of instilling these fears in us. I always liken it to being dress in white clothing and ask to job into a large mud hole and then ask to not muddy. It's no wonder we have or had such fears. It's Cult 101 in their book of controlling people.
Many here have suffered with PTSD because of this kind of spiritual abuse. As a child and into adulthood I would have nightmares of being killed in front of a firing squad knowing I would never live again because I was just not good enough for God. This is the insidious control the wt. uses to keep their flock in line. What else can I say it's a Cult. Still Totally ADD

What Is The Most Ridiculous Thing You Have Heard From A Witness?
by minimus ini remember an elder questioning a woman who had admitted to giving and receiving oral sex from her unbelieving mate.
he asked her the most intimate questions which clearly flustered her.
interestingly, she “confessed “ to the elders because her conscience bothered her.

sir82 I think my parents went through 6 of those last cars before Armageddon. One brother I knew swore up and down that the only way we can not hurt the earth anymore in the new system was run around naked and live under bushes or caves. Lol. Still Totally ADD

Time Gained by Leaving JW World
by Farmer Jim1 indoes anyone else wonder at the amount of time a person immediately gains when they leave the jws?.
just today, a sunday, i would have woken up at 7, frantically taken a highlighter pen to my wt to make it look like i had made a deep study of it.
packed my stuff for meeting and ministry, cycled to the kh, joined the pre meeting ministry arrangement, rushed back for the meeting, sat through a sometimes interesting public talk, sometimes mind-numbingly dull one, strained through a wt study to which i usually had more questions than answers.

Time to read what you want. Time to do projects for your benefit. Time to relax when you see the need. Time to go to a lecture anytime and day of the week. No more time wasted doing all the busy work of the Borg and worrying what time it is so you will not be late.
Morpheus you are right no more time wasted being a elder. If the wt. paid the elders for all the work we did for them I figured at 20 hours a week times let's say $20 per hour that equals $400 times 52 weeks equals $20,800.00 per year. For me I served as a elder for 25 years and that equals $520,000 for my service to the Borg. I feel that is a conservative estimate. Boy that makes me sick just to thinking about it. Does the Watchtower have an official position on Alcoholics Anonymous?
by JeffT ini ask because i'm working in a 28 day residential addiction treatment center and one of my co-workers is studying with the jw's.
he does not know i'm an xjw.
i suspect that at some point they're going to tell him he can't go to aa meetings anymore.

Back around 2000 there was sister in our Hall who was fighting alcoholism. She was before a committee which I was one of the elders and she ended up getting DF for adultery which her alcoholism led to. Of course the counsel she got from the other older elders was read your Bible and pray to God and don't miss meetings. I in turn told her she might want to look into AA meetings. The other two elders thought I was nuts. Well as it turn out over a year later I ran in to this sister at a assembly. She ran up to me and told me she was reinstated then she gave me a big hug and thank me for turning her towards AA. At that point she was 1year alcohol free. It was a small thing for me but I think it was the first crack in my jw box that finally lead to my leaving. After that anyone I knew that had problems with alcoholism I recommended AA.
